Pastor Paul Appold

Pastor

What I do at TLC:  I love to lead worship services and preach on Sunday morning and Wednesday nights during Advent and Lent.  I teach Bible class on Sunday mornings and several other times during the week.  I look to reach out to visitors and those who do not have a relationship with Jesus, and by God’s grace lead them to faith in Him.  I also work to equip people to live out courageous faith in Jesus Christ.

Hometown:  I was born and raised in Bay City, MI.  My home church is St. Paul Lutheran, Frankenlust, where I also attended grades 1-8.  And I am a graduate of Bay City, Handy High School, class of 1980.

Education: B.A. from Concordia University, Ann Arbor 1984; M.Ed. from Wayne State University 1995; M.Div. from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis 2001.

Career Experience:  1985-1997—7th grade teacher; athletic director, St. Peter’s, Eastpointe, MI; 2001-2014—Pastor, Trinity, Lansing, IL; 2014- Present, Pastor, Trinity, Muskegon

My Favorite Part of Serving:  I love to see the “aha” moments when people realize how powerful faith in Jesus really is.

Family:  My wife Carrie and I have four children.  Our oldest daughter, Elise is married to Trevor and lives in Schererville, IN. They have one daughter, Alice Mae; Travis our son lives here in Muskegon and works at the Shape Corp. in Grand Haven ; Rachel our third child lives and works in Indiana, and Caroline, our youngest, lives with us, and attends West Shore Lutheran School.  Our children bring great joy to our lives.

Hobbies: I love to work in my yard, garden, hike, read, cheer for Detroit sports teams, and also anything that has to do with spending time with my family.

Favorite Bible Verse:  “ I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.”  Romans 1:16
