Barb Rudick

Director of Outreach & Care

What I do at TLC: I have a heart for reaching out to others with God's love and bringing that love to them personally through cards, visits, grief care, collections for people/organizations in need, and doing Stephen Ministry which shows care for people who are hurting.

Hometown: I was born and raised right here in Muskegon, MI. I was baptized, confirmed and later married at Trinity. I attended Phillips School in grades 1-5, Trinity Lutheran grades 6-8, and graduated from Muskegon High School in the class of 1964.

Education: I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia Teacher's College, now Concordia University, Chicago in 1968.

Career Experience: I taught grades 1-2 at St. John's Grand Haven from 1968-1974. I then taught at Our Redeemer, starting with kindergarten and later started directing and teaching preschool there. When Trinity and Our Redeemer Schools consolidated, I taught at West Shore. Then in 2001, I made a big move to China where I taught kindergarten from 2001-2005 at Concordia International School, Shanghai (CISS). I retired from teaching upon the close of my service there, having taught 35 years. In 2005 I began working part-time at Trinity doing Care and Outreach Ministry. This year marks my 48th year of service in the LCMS. I pray that God is not done with me yet.

My Favorite Part of Serving:  I love people. Working with Care and Outreach gives me the opportunity to use the spiritual gifts God has given me: mercy, giving, and teaching. I feel very blessed to be able to show people the love of God. Serving gives me great joy!

Family: My husband Dick and I had three sons. We were blessed with 29 years of marriage before God called him home. Scott, David and Alison, and Matt and Amanda all live in Muskegon. God has blessed me with 12 grandchildren. My brother, Steve Klug is an important part of my life. You will often see us together.

Hobbies: I love to travel, both in the United States and around the world. I love to spend time with my grandkids, read, watch sports with family, work puzzles, participate in LWML and other church activities, and I have a heart for supporting and doing mission work.

Favorite Bible Verse: Ps. 121 and Eph. 2:8-9 and v 10:"...For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (NIV)
